Privilege Walk: Proof of Burden

Sneak Preview
This article reflects on the discomfort — and unintended consequences — of the “privilege walk” activity often used in diversity trainings. I wrote it after witnessing how these exercises can retraumatize participants and reinforce power imbalances under the guise of awareness. Rather than building empathy, they too often spotlight pain without offering repair. This piece invites facilitators, educators, and change leaders to reconsider their tools, listen more deeply, and move toward practices that honor lived experience without exploiting it. It's a call for dignity-centered approaches that make space for healing.
